Maxum built its reputation by delivering affordable, well-styled boats at extremely competitive prices. The 3100 SE is a sporty stern-drive cruiser with a mid-cabin interior and a lengthy list of cruising amenities.
She’s built on a solid fiberglass modified-V hull with moderate beam and reverse chines to dampen spray. Below deck, privacy curtains separate the fore and aft sleeping areas from the main cabin. Between them is an expansive salon with a semicircular lounge/dinette (which converts to a double berth) to starboard, an enclosed head with sink and shower, and a full galley to port with abundant storage. There are six opening ports for ventilation, and the absence of any interior bulkheads makes for an incredibly open floorplan. The cockpit has a double-wide helm seat, an L-shaped lounge opposite, and U-shaped seating aft complemented by a sink and cooler space. An opening windshield provides access to the foredeck with its twin sun pads. A capable performer, twin 260hp MerCruiser sterndrives cruise the 3100 SE in the mid-20s and reach 33–34 knots top.
